Early Years - First Steps

Starting school is a big
step in your child’s life.
At Aspire,  Private
British School we are
committed to ensuring
that your child’s start to
school is a positive and
happy one.

At Foundation Stage, lessons
gradually set in place the building
blocks that will form the
foundations of reading, writing and numeracy whilst a themed based
topic approach to learning adds
flavour and interest to other
curriculum areas.

Well-planned play, both indoors and outdoors, provides key opportunities
for young children to learn with enjoyment and challenge. With adult support and a stimulating, safe and secure environment, the children

thrive and flourish with plenty
of opportunities to develop
socially and emotionally through interaction with others.

The prime areas of learning are:

  • communication and language physical development
  • personal, social & emotional
  • literacy
  • mathematics
  • understanding the world
  • expressive arts and design

In Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2)
children are encouraged to
become more confident and independent, whilst maintaining
the secure and comfortable
environment that the Foundation
Stage offers your child.

The curriculum shifts towards a
subject-based, more structured

We continue to develop the phonic awareness, reading skills and
numeracy blocks that have been introduced in Foundation Stage
and build on the abilities of each individual child.

Our aim is to instil a love of learning
and to encourage creative thinking
from a young age.
